Northstar Ride Along

Ever wonder about what goes on on the ski slopes between the last run of one day and the first run of the next? Well, last night a friend of mine took me out on his grooming shift on the slopes of the Northstar Resort in Lake Tahoe. Two shifts of maybe a dozen groomers each take to the slopes each night in huge "cats" like these and manicure the trails to perfection. Creating the perfect skiing surface seems to be almost an art form. While along for the ride, I got to learn a bit of the operator lingo, things like "blade diving" and “augering." That, and it was a heck of a lot of fun. Thanks for the ride along Logan!
